Hello, I'm Kat. Welcome to my portfolio!
I am a baker with a passion for harmonious flavor pairings, utilizing ingredients grown in and by the community that I live in, and making desserts that just simply spark joy. In the kitchen/workplace I leave my ego 'at the door' and go through my day with a sense of humility, knowing that learning and growth are both crucial, never ending processes. While I do tend to be a perfectionist, sun placement in Virgo lol, I make an effort to bring a sense of lightheartedness to the work that I do. Because in the end of the day food is food; it's nourishment, community, comfort.
In 2021 I started, Kat & Mouse, a bakery popup that focuses on giving back. Last Thanksgiving, I sold pies to raise money for two indigenous organizations, First Nations and iCollective. Several pies were also donated to the Hudson Community Free Fridge in hope to make someone's dinner extra special and to bring enjoyment and comfort to individuals in the Hudson area during these rough times.
Baking has always been a passion of mine and I am truly grateful for all the educational and career opportunities that I have been able to be a part of. I am especially grateful for all the wonderful people that I have connected with in the hospitality industry over the last several years.
